Serving the triangle region for twenty years!

Greetings friends, would you like to learn the most effective and well rounded martial art available to bipedal apes (people in other words)? Sure we all would! Well, come visit us sometime over at Triangle Town Center for an introduction to the fine and inspiring art of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. In Brazilian Jiu-jitsu we fight for the position (“roll for control”) and wear our opponents down with Newtonian physics.

jiu-jitsu shark geoff balme bjjEverything you need for effective self-defense is available to you here in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. We have the take-downs, the exercises for escape and the finishing holds you need to survive any encounter from the street to the tournament.

Make your martial art trainable as a sport and the rest is cake. You’ll be a martial monster to those who don’t train in a matter of weeks (a bold boast? Perhaps, but training makes a difference that is DIRECTLY MEASURABLE).

Plus you’ll be mixing with us, the most welcoming and patient as well as tasteful and erudite crew of martial arts practitioners this side of Polybius (who? Look him up!).

“AM I TOO OLD?”

Our practitioners range in age from 16 to 70+! Most of us are middle-aged and using Jiu-jitsu as a fun way to get some physical Zen! I don’t teach children (The kids are better served by my Karate and Judo friends) so you aren’t matched up with a babysitting situation! Nor will you be matched up with a gym hero with fantasy championships in their heads as they train with you! I require maturity and care on the mat! This is NOT a fight club! Jiujitsu is a cooperative training science, and self defense! Sport is not the sole reason for training, but rather just one of the training methods!

About Brazilian Jiu-jitsu

A “sister art” of classical (pre-olympic) Judo, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is as close to a fully rounded self-defense system as you are likely to encounter. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu practitioners train with the idea of being in the worst positions possible right from the get-go. In Brazilian Jiu-jitsu everyone learns how to fight on their backs and when outgunned by bigger opponents. Efficiency of technique is the key and we (my team and I) are here to help you maximize your efficiency while having great fun doing it.1-jen-and-brie-roll-2
